How did you get the name QUICK II BLAST? Well the name was originally made for a group which included myself and my Dj. But a few years ago we lost him to the streets.
Dj MAAD was his name. He died from a stab wound to the heart and bled to death. I miss my dog fa’sho. RIP pimp! Since then, what’s keeping you going in the game? My dog MAAD. My family. Everybody. Man I love this music. If you ask anybody I know they would tell you what this means
to me. Music saved me from the streets. Plus when people tell me they love what I do and they are feeling me, that’s
motivation for me to keep going. What is the name of your new album? The name of it is called “UNSTABLE GANGSTA”. I named it that because my life was very unstable at one point.
I was homeless, sleeping on bus stops and in abandon buildings. Plus my attitude about life was all messed up. I just didn’t
care about anything. At that time I didn’t have anything or anybody. Since you’ve been in the game how has it changed? Now days, rappers not trying to get signed, they runnin’ thangs on their own. Back in the day, everybody was trying
to signed to a major label, but now they don’t really need a deal you feel me? What would you tell other independent artists trying to get into the game? Create a buzz first. Pass out cd’s, do talent showcases, music conferences, open mics, whatever it takes for people
to know who you are. After you build your rep. Then start charging these clubs to perform. They’re making money and
so should you. Do you have any upcoming shows? Yeah! As a matter of fact I just did a show in Anniston Alabama at Club 7 on may 19th. It was hot. People was
crunk and everything’. And on May 28th I’ll be in Hurtsboro, Alabama performing for their MAY DAY festival,
and on June 4th I’ll be in Tuskegee Alabama performing at Club Millenium for their 1st Annual
Car Show & Cookout. Who do you want to give a shout out to? To everyone who has ever listened to my music and showed me love. To “TINY” the comedian from BET’s Comin’
To The Stage. Thanks for jumping on the album playboy! Much love to you dog! To my cousin’ Baby Boyy (CAN‘T STOP
RECORDS), to my road dog Perry Kyles, thanks for being there for me pimp. Alice Marie aka BIG MAMA’ DRAMA at 99.7 Jams
in Jackson, Ms who showed me love from day one. Lil Homey in B-HAM Alabama at 95.7 Jams. To Ryan Cameron at V103 in Atlanta,
Ga for playing my radio drop I made for him. Dj Slam, Dj MAAD (RIP), to everybody I know and to all of y’all who know
me and support me. Much love! Much love! Interviewed by; True Street Promotions (May 2005) |
